I'm gonna have to title this "Lightning Looking for a Home"
Paul D. Hensley, Arlington TX
04/23/2004
Seeing was poor to say the least as storms rolled through Dallas/Ft Worth last night, but I'm an optimist and decided to capture some of the storm on my new toy.
One image culled from 67, Digital Rebel with the supplied 18-55mm lens set to 18mm. 15 second exposures at ISO800 and F29. You can see the trails from the landing lights of a plane taking off from DFW in the right half of the image. I managed a few rather small-ish bolts in some other frames, but this one stood out as the "wow" image in the bunch.

Heres some lightning from march '02 down in Florida. Taken with a Nikon Coolpix 950, 8 sec exposure, handheld. Enjoy!

No lightning but a really cool thunderhead I was driving straight for. Nikon D70 set on Auto w/18-70mm lens w/polarizer filter. I just picked the camera up off the seat and pointed it out the window.

My new observatory is built upon an outcropping of the Canadian Shield. I've been unable to come up with a name for it. The answer became fairly obvious to me last night.
Aurora Ridge Observatory May 12, 2004, 0330UT 24 seconds, f3.5, ISO 1600, 18mm setting, Canon 300D.
