Greetings all
First time in Binoworld. I have an old pair of V heavy Jap made 10x50 and have been offered a new pair as something of an early birthday gift.
Anyone have any experience with the following type of bino?
Helios Rapide 10x42 - FOV=6deg, Length=165mm, Weight=640g

You might want to scan messages in the Cloudy Days forum here, since this 10x42 is in the daytime use range and this one may be discussed there.

At first incept, looks good.

Phase coating is becomming the norm in roof binoculars. There is old stock (without) that people sell at a discount.
You can ask the person who his making the gift to keep the receipt and work with you to see if you feel it is satifactory. Binoculars are so personal. Even though it can be completely functional, it might have something that distresses you. Yes, Cloudy days forum will help you know the issues that people notice in binocular satifaction. Also our sticky posts at the top of our forum have alot of good information that might help you. (words to know-- eye relief, IPD inter pupilary distance, exit pupil, consider your intended uses.)
It is exciting to us, here in this forum, if you respond back to this thread on how it goes, (your satifaction with the final choice)! We think of making gifts to our loved ones too!

Agreed .. that's why I pointed to Cloudy Days, where several higher end 10x42s have been discussed recently.
