Nice writeup. I have this setup and have been very pleased with it. I also did an article but was unable to get much for views with lousy weather.
I think you summed it up nicely. It really is a great buy and I would purhase all of this again instantly....

Oops, yup thats a typo.
It should be August 2005, of course - Thanks, maybe CloudyNights can fix that.
If anyone reads this you have my permission to fix my goofup.

Good review as well your review on the WO Apograde for this (and other similar OTA OEMs) semi-apo 80mm refractors.
I went along almost the same path, but started with Orion's Express 80 OTA ($399.95), also of excellent quality and craftmanship.
I screw mounted a mounting bracket ($9.95) for all interchangeable Orion finderscopes and went with their right angle, correct image, 9x50 finderscope ($79.95). This finderscope is of excellent quality and does quite nicely for daytime and astronimical viewing applications. The only disadvantage is that is relatively heavier and therefore more difficult to balance the scope on a mount.
I am very pleased with the WO Apograde for my scope as well, which also includes a WO 10:1 Microfocuser which is compatible with 2" Crayford that apparently came with both these scopes.
