Has anybody yet tried the new Oberwerk 45deg. 20/40*100 Miyuchi lookalike binos. If they as good as the 25*100's then they will be a true bargain. Anyone - please.....

Go for it Roy! If we wait for Ron to be the first they will have invented something better. I see they are backordered right now (I keep checking too!). If and when you find any reviews, or you get a pair, please let us know.

Now Ron has been told by the War Department to save for a new car. Uf-dah! How can I do that and buy binoviewers? And load up on binoculars? And pay for gas? I don't see why I can't just borrow money like crazy (hey, the government does it and they buy bigger toys than I do) then die in debt? I have no kids to ruin so I think it's a plan!

The 45° 20/40 x 100s have been temporarily removed from Oberwerk's website. Kevin Busarow announced yesterday that he is not happy with the manufacturers quality control on the first shipment. He states that until quality issues can be worked out, they will not be offered. He also says an updated version will soon be available. Stay tuned.
And the big question in my mind is this. If Kevin is taking these steps to correct the QC situation with his branded shipments, what are the other supply houses doing with theirs?? Just a thought.

Markus Ludes of APM Germany, posted today that these new binoculars all need to go into his optical shop for adjustment of the prisms/prism shelf before shipping to any customers. There seems to be significant problems with these first shipments that need attention.
In addition, in his post he comments that he has stopped carrying the 22x100s.

Hi edz, Thanks for the info. I'm sure they'll get it right and I'm just hoping that when they do it will not substantially affect the price.

A true sin, I thought to take the 22x100, the cost is low but the quality....very low. We hope that the Chinese constructors improve the things, also with a higher cost of sale I prefer to spend 100-200$ more but to have collimated binoculars he is usable. Salutes

why not taking the "simple" 25x100 45 degree chinese border model? I received mine lately, and i am extremely pleased with their quality, surely better than the standard 45% non-fluorite miyauchi, and at least in the centre of the wide field: extreme nice control of chromatism (better or equal to fluo miyauchi tmo)
On the negative side: heavy! (14kilo) and no interchangable EP.
