Hello,
How much is known about the moon's interior? Any guesses about it's temperature? Would deep mine shafts on the moon be hot too, like on earth?
Just wondering..

We'll have to ask Don and Tina once they get down that far. I do believe the Moon is considered cold. But that is a great question and it will be a tough one to answer.

Ron stated a true statement. When the X-Planet struck Earth their cores mixed and for the most part stayed with the Earth and the debris field formed the moon. The moons' core cooled down very quickly. I know this because I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.
Actually, I remember it from the Discovery Science Channel when they had a episode on the formation of the moon.

So, it's completely cooled down? You could drill a hole right to the center? I guess that would be both a geologist's and a miner's wildest dream. And then I'm not even mentioning Jules Vernes!

Magnetometer readings aboard the Lunar Prospector indicate that the moons core makes up only 1-3% of the mass while Earths core makes up about 33% of its mass.
This strengthens the hypothesis that the moon was created from a huge impact from another body colliding with the Earth. Our moons creation is therefore considered unique.
The impact turned much of the Earth molten while the resulting pieces that formed the moon cooled long ago.
