I just bought a SpaceProbe™ 130ST EQ I've heard its a good scope now I'm looking at parts to add. I was wondering if Orion is known to have good quaility eyepieces and barlows. I don't seem them linked to many sites, but have seen many good reviews for their telescopes. I hoping the reason for this is because you can buy directly from their site compared to other major companies that rely on Amazon.com or something like it to sell there parts.

The sirius plossls that came with my scope are good, and I ordered an expanse wide field 6mm,( that they said I will have to wait about 3 weeks for),of which I read positive review on this website. You can read the review of eyepieces on the main page of this site. t

I can't speak for all their offerrings, but I have two Orion eyepieces that I am quite pleased with. One is a 7mm Ortho that I bought a long time ago that gives really nice sharp views edge to edge. The other is a 5.1 mm Epic ED-2 series that also gives good images and has the added benefit of having a huge eye lens [for such a short fl] which gives a claimed 20 mm eye relief. [I believe it though I've never measured it.]
The 5.1 does exhibit some distortion at the extreem edge of the field but only the most demaanding would find it objectionable. Internal reflections and glare are minimal.
So I think on the whole, their medium priced eyepieces are pretty good, especially for the money.
After reading the review on the main page, I think I'm going to stick with the simpler types like Orthos for medium fl eeyepieces to get the benefit of much better light transmission. For short fl eyepieces transmission is not as important, I think, because hi-mag targets like the Moon and the planets are plenty bright, so you can afford to throw some light away.
Just my $.02.

I use all Sirius Plossl eyepieces and they are good. The cheap line; Explorer, is not nearly as sharp.

The Sirius Plossls have received very good reviews by experienced observers. I have a couple that came with one of my scopes and I think they are good especially for the price. Orion's ED-2 eyepieces are no longer available - unfortunately-. I should have bought the whole set while I had the chance. I found their expanse EPs to have too much gohsting on bright objects. They are good on DSOs. Many of Orion's other EPs like the Lanthanums are made by Vixen of Japan and I have found them to be very good. In general, Orion has a mix of Chinese and Japanese products most of which are quite good.

thank you for the info, its harder to find info on Orion and I think they are one of the top 3 sellers. It helps a lot though, I would prefer to just get most of my suppies from them because I have read they are great with customer service and return policies. Other then that, its not easy to get reviews on indiviual pieces so thank you for your input. I have written a few people off the forums and I haven't heard anything bad about Orion so I think I'll stay with them, atleast as I start out.

Not all Orions are created equal. Speaking specifically on the Sirius plossl line of which I own most, the 6.3mm and the 7.5mm are only fair to poor. Neither of these equals the performance of a celestron Ultima 7.5mm or a UO ortho 6mm or 7mm. (EDIT, The 7.5 and 6.3 may be considered fair to mediocre, but probably not poor). The 10mm is at least equal to a Meade 9.7mm, but not equal to a UO ortho 9mm.
The 20mm is better than Celestron stock 20mm and the 17mm I find to be one of the best of the mid-range eyepieces, but neither one matches the performance of UO 18mm ortho. The Orion 26mm is not as good as Meade 26mm super plossl.
The orthos all have 10% narrower field of view. Used TV plossls beat every Sirius plossl in every size, but even used cost almost twice as much and sometimes more.
See my recent article over on the reviews side for a discussion about the 17mm and the 20mm.

I have 25mm and 17mm Explorer II's, a 12.5mm High Light Plossl and a 5.1mm Epic ED-2. They are all decent eyepieces, though the ED-2's view is darker than my 4mm Radian and 7mm Siebert and has some chromatic abberation at the edges of the field of view (FOV). I use a 17mm Siebert Ultra more as it has a bigger FOV than the Explorer II. The 12.5mm is great, except at dawn or twilight when the silver top reflects the sky light, I find this distracting.
I also have a Short Plus Barlow, which I like very much.
