Burgess 15x70 info needed..
      #98487 - 04/27/04 06:33 PM

I ordered a pair of these the other day and since they are on back order I thought I’d make a nice case for them myself. However, the physical dimensions must be privileged information because I can find it anywhere.
All I need to know is the Height, Width, and Length in inches so I can get started on a wooden case.

Can anyone help???

I tried Burgess Optical web site and there is no mention of how big they are and they are ignoring my email.

I’m looking forward to the views, these will be my first BIG binoculars and I couldn’t have ordered much sooner since I just dropped my 7x35’s rendering them FUBAR the same night I ordered the Burgess.

Sorry I can't help you about the size of the binoculars; but you are correct about e-mailing Burgess. I purchased a binocular mount from them, and the lady on the phone was very pleasant and helpful. But when it comes to e-mails, they tend to be very slow at responding. Other than slow e-mail responses, they are usually highly recommended.

Measurements are:
Overall length 11",
Overall height (Object cover diameter) 3 3/8",
Overall width (outside objective cover to OS cover) 8 5/8.

These are approximate (within 1/8"), with the binocs folded "flat"

IHS, when they do answer emails it usually takes 1-3 days from my experience. Hopefully someone here can provide the measurements you need. You can phone them but it's likely to turn into a very long call.

I have the Oberwerk 15x70s, and I'd also like to hear how they compare to the Burgess. I've heard really good things about both (which I can confirm with my Obies). I'm curious about Celestron Skymaster 15x70s, too.

The links to Binoc Mini Reviews has both.

Does the Burgess have better coating than the Barska, or are they essentially the same instrument for 40% more?

I'd sure like to know soon, as I wish to get a pair before Q4 is gone.

The reviews are very helpful, but due to the subjective element, I can't tell if the Burgess are different than the Barska's or not.

TIA,
Steve

Without seeing the two side by side, neither can I.
