I'm back for the moment. Been busy with forming a classic rock band, getting gigs, learning new songs, etc. I hope to spend more time here soon since the band isn't requiring as much of my time as it used to.

As I understand it the reason for the mask on the SV85 and 63 is to pass the maximoun amount of light the prisms will handle with out being cutoff. I will research where I read this as it's beeen a few months since I ran across it.

I have used both the Obie 20x90 and SV20x85 side by side and found the SV to be slightly sharper. I think I posted a review a while back on my observations. The Obies are currently unable to hold collimation.

Craig,

Good to hear from you. Time to upgrade your 15X70 to the Oberwerk Ultra? ;-))

Hi Erik, The Ultra? Uh-oh. I've been blowing all my money on PA gear.

It's good to be back. I hope contribute more frequently than I have in recent months. I've restarted with a low cost bino chair discovery thread.

The main speakers are JBL Eons courtesy of Craig's List (no relation), assembled in the USA, made in the PRC. The QSC power amp is USA. The 4 Fender Monitors are from Mexico. The mixer is a small German designed Behringer I've had for a few years but made in the PRC. For guitar stage amps I use Vox AD30VT and AD50VT, which are modelers and do a good job at mimicing 11 different classic and modern amp types. They are made in Vietnam. There also two 23 year old but dependable American Peavey XR-600B powered mixers and a couple of equally old Cerwin-Vega speakers. In spite of all the different nationalities represented in the various pieces of gear, they all seem to work quite harmoniously with one another.

Thanks for that info , Craig .

A cosmopolitan blend , indeed !

Not unlike the optics industry really :-)
