Clouds really did try their utmost to destroy this morning, but managed, largely thanks to 65 frames per second, to get these images done. First without the proms, next with. Have about 15 more at various stages to compile, and a high res last contact shot (first contact lost to clouds)
SV50 at F7.5
(added a last contact image further down)

Love the first image! You had more patience than me, I couldn't be bothered setting up the mount and DMK and just went for afocals. Looks like there are a crazy number of filaments around today, hopefully I will get a chance to do some vid captures of the proms and fils later on.

Here's the prom, which got obscured at first contact, sadly clouds killed the shot I wanted to get..

Love those filaments. It really shows why we get to see a new prom or two every few days as the sun rotates.

I was just going to say, I didn't see any of those filaments! LOL AWESOME captures Nick, scanning my sketch as I type...
I did see, just off the North limb, what appears to be an emerging region...It brightened the whole time I viewed...

I guess the SV50 really did deliver today then. The filaments were fainter in the raw data..CS2 has brought them out more.
Gotta love what a 0.7A setup (I am guessing this is probably lower ...) can deliver.

Thank you everyone.
I keep saying it...but the Solarscopes are really really something special. After seeing the NASA webscast, I may get on to them to buy some better focussing gear too!

Here's the last contact, first contact and prom shot in a montage
http://ukastronomers.com/NickH/image/7456_large.jpeg
I tried a big gain increase to see if I could get any prom, or edge detail as it left the limb, still processing that and the timelapse shots

Almost just single shots, in fact some of the eclipse was, but that one is a two pane mosaic, just the top 1/3rd added
Thank you everyone so much. Really and truly humbled by the response to my depiction of one of nature's most amazing events..
So looking forward to China 2009 now.

OK, so I love all the images and sketches here but don't comment very often. But if I find myself drawn to an image or sketch over and over I can't help from posting.
WOW!
Those filiments are fantastic!
Great job!
