Very Large Beautiful Prom Movie
      #2796574 - 12/09/08 10:21 PM

Here's the latest from my backyard. It was kinda chilly but it warmed up pretty good for the capture. The movie is 3 meg in size so modem users beware. Its best to download it first before viewing. Clear Skyz, LA

Thanks everyone. The elapse time is around 1.5 to 2 hours. The weather was really odd this day. Extreme cold 37 to start and 63 when complete. We are due for more of this on Friday. I'm just glad there's no snow yet. I always worry out imaging in extreme weather due to its effects on the coatings on the filters. Clear Skyz, LA

Lenny - I used a method much like the one I use to make cloud videos. I also use the movie making function in registax. The link below is to my cloud video creation how-to. After a video is make I re-encode it with the Xvid codec to compress the size down to an internet friendly size.

That is pretty kewl Larry. I've been messing with Registax's "create avi" function lately. It does have potential. I practice on moon shots and even when poorly aligned, it can stack the images and create an .avi without any discernable movement...we really need to give kudos to the folks making these programs
I do like my CaK from Lunt but boy, sure would like an Ha as well when i see these shots Wonder if i can call Mr. Obama and request a bailout loan. One of the things that's great about the Cak is its modular. I can swap it into an 80mm etc.....as soon as they figure out an Ha BF like that, i'm on it!

Larry,

What system/software do you need to view the movie? I've updated both QuickTime and Windows Media Player and it still won't play for me. Which should I be trouble shooting?

Thanks

The video is encoded with the Divx or Xvid codec. Either will work. The Xvid codec is free for download. If you do a google search for it you will find it pretty easily. It provides the most compress with the least artifacts. After installing either codec the video should play in either player. Clear Skyz, LA

I've just been to your site and viewed the videos of the Sun and Jupiter. WOW! There's something about watching Jupiter spinning which is quite mesmerizing! Keep up the good work.

Larry,
After reviewing all of your videos I think that they are completely awesome and quite beautiful. How do you keep the image aligned so well through all of the frames? Is there some software that aligns the .avi and then resaves it as a new .avi?

I use Registax to align it. I hear that they are working on Registax 5 now. I'm hoping it has more movie making bells and whistles. Registax 4 has alot of features to it but you have to experiment a little to find them. Clear Skyz, LA

Wonder why I can't view the videos? I should mention that I've been using computers daily since the 4.8mhz IBM. Seems my system is screwed up. I've removed all my players, re-installed them including the Xvid-1.2.1-04122008.exe codec. Windows Media player is up to date, Itunes, Quicktime etc.? I'm clueless how to fix this pup.
