At present in Germany the Protuberanzenrelativzahl (Rp) or Filamentenrelativzahl (Rf) are not central collected. At present I am in the discussion with the specialized group “sun” in the "Vereinigung der Sternfreunde e.V" association.

The repaired CaK is being sent back! I left it stored on the binocular mount with the other CaK PST in a Pelican case with a desiccant pack in a temperature controlled room. The repaired one now shows a purplish blur. The other is still fine. I suppose the glue slipped. Or does anybody have a better guess?

Nope, sounds like astigmatism to me, if it's blurry, pretty bad astigmatism too

I called for a status today, CSR told me current turn around time to repair a PST is 8-10 weeks. One guy working on them in back room with a red stapler.

Is there some point where I can consider my scope, "rust proof"?...Is that even a possibility if I continue to maintain it the way I have...It's been over a year...

I hope and pray. Mine has never been sick, and feel I am a lucky one with the gold optics.
On a good day, visually I have seen some fabulous views..... I hope I never have to go through the problems some of you have faced. I am a bricklayer and keep my scope in my work truck with me to pull out just to get a fix, and to show your typical "construction" worker the sun every once in awhile.
Its a great teaching tool for people that are unaware of what is up there.
The first thing I always get is... is it safe?? I tell em to take a look and find out for yourself.
amazing what such a little scope can do!!

Yeah, my 2 cents is a gold objective with no rust is the best PST to have.

Well I figure its time for a little update on my PST
serial number 95660. I had shipped it back to Meade on
Feb 13th using USPS (big mistake) and Meade received it
on March 5th. I called cust svc for the first time today
to get a ETA, and they said 4 weeks from today.
I hope they do a good job.

I just called on mine this morning. They received it on Jan 30th, logged it in Feb 6th (I think the guy with the red stapler was waiting for genuine swingline staples before he could continue) and are telling me it should be shipped next week (the week of the April 14th). That would make it 11 weeks by their login date, and 12 weeks if you go by the date they received it, and that's if they ship it next week.
Of course it's supposed to be a sunny weekend in the 70's in the Pacific Northwest and no PST.

Maybe Meade would like to give you all a "loaner" scope while you are waiting. Then you wouldn't mind so much how long it took.
$pace @ce, of course it's going to be sunny. And Monday, and Tuesday, and maybe even Wednesday!!
That'll be a first if they're right!

Here's a question ... I can easily code up a online database that people can enter their PST s/n and status into instead of tracking posts here. Would this be useful?

I'm really cheesed at Meade. I just called to find out where my scope is. It was supposed to be shipped out last week. Nope, not only was it not shipped out, but now they tell me that they moved the Coronado repair department on April 9th, and that put the repairs at about 16 weeks out from the time they log it in. That puts mine another month out unless mine is one of the first ones repaired at the new facility.
If anyone just turned one in for repair, they might get it back in time for the rainy season this fall.
