I think those new scopes will go through the whole testing cycle of the ups and downs just like coronado did. I personally would like to test drive one of those new scopes. I use my PST everyday it is even somewhat clear. I am hooked on solar... I wish the cost was cheaper though. I realize the cost of the process in making one of these scopes. But for most people... the scopes are just out of reach. If the claims they make on these scopes ARE for real.... they should produce some great views.
Personally I would not drop 800+ dollars for an untested scope. Just look at all the pst's out there that are sick, and all the problems they have had. I got lucky in this deal on my scope. I NEVER heard of the scopes getting sick... until after my purchase. (Then I must say I was sick) I continue to look at that objective on a daily basis for the sickness... with NO apparent specks or bubbles or fogging of any kind.
When the prices dropped on the pst's I thought things were going to be great for peeps into solar. Now I see the scene has not changed at all. Prices are going up, not down.... bummer.
Nuff Rambling here. Did my point get across???

But how much did you enjoy the views through that Daystar unit before you got another one, and for how long?

$800...that would be a great price if it translated to Euros/£'s on a 1:1 ratio...but that for us works out at closer to $1500 by the time it gets here...so count yourselves very lucky indeed

Hi Bob, I finally know your username.
When I looked through you scope in Jan you told me if I wanted to wait that Lunt might have some great things in the works. Of course I did not wait and had a PST within a week. It is the best $500 I have ever spent. I am sure I will sell it within a year and move up but I would not trade the views for anything.
