It is a 70mm H-alpha telescope the first item that Coronado produced I believe.

Interesting, is it full aperture with a central obstruction?

Yes, it has a central obstruction. The bandpass is <0.8A, which is a touch larger than the other Coronado filters because the etalon is internal and of a smaller size than the 70 mm front aperture. The plus side of this arrangement is that the cost is less because the etalon is smaller, but you still capture the full 70 mm of light. I think prominences are thus the strong point of this instrument, though surface features show up pretty well too.

Thank you David. I have been collecting H-alpha design information and I did not know of that design. This seems to be the front runner of the PST technology.

frankly, since they have this kind of idea for a very long time, I wonder what's new in the Lunt's offering...

I haven't looked in detail, but I thought the Lunt etalon had no central obstruction, which would give more contrast.

The design is essentially the same as the Coronado Maxscope 70, which I believe is to be discontinued, so the Lunt scopes might be the only ones producing this sort of design.

Lunt is certainly using some of David Lunt's patents so they all did not go to Meade. Here is a drawing from Patent #07149377 by Yakov Sidorin and David Lunt. (Patent Images are Public Domain )

You can see the similarity to the Lunt sketch that Markus posted.
