The internet is full of resources of interest to the amateur astronomer. Over in the Lunar Observing forum we have put together a list of links to web sites/pages of use to Lunar Observers that has becomes a large and useful resource. I would like to see such a resource brought into being for this forum as well. Toward that end, I have stuck this post to the top of the forum, and begun our list of online solar observing resources with a link provided recently by David W. Knisely :
Observing the Sun in H-alpha
NASA: Solar Physics
NOVAC: Understanding Hydrogen-Alpha Solar Filters
Resonant Spaces - H-Alpha Etalons by Colin Kaminski
Sungazer Reference List
Dave Groski's Solar Page
Big Bear Solar Observatory

Astro-Nut.com Solar
Raban Systems Solar Current Solar Image
Observing the Sun with a Spectroheliograph
Solar Photos from Germany
Cemax Eyepiece Review
Ha-Observing on a budget by John Crilly
ALPO solar section
Please add links that you know of and have found useful. I will periodically go through what is posted on this thread and add it to a master list in this post for convenient access.

I would suggest http://sec.noaa.gov which has lots of solar and space weather information. Many, many links there but good starting points are http://sec.noaa.gov/today.html http://sec.noaa.gov/SWN
And a shameless plug for my own site: http://raben.com/solar http://raben.com/graphs and http://raben.com/maps
Paul Hyndman's site has lots of great info on solar imaging http://astro-nut.com/sun.html

Hi,
Here a other link of the site of my friend Philippe Rouselle, a great french amateur of solar astronomy. Philippe is specialized in spectroheliography. Visit his site [ English Version ]. In France for solar astronomy amateurs, a great site ! The link : Observing the Sun with a spectroheliograph

Lots of nice links, guys! Thanks. (My astronomy classes are about to begin studying the Sun--as an average yellow dwarf star--on their way to spectrography and stellar evolution.) As always, I appreciate any help (especially nice resources like this) that I can get!
And, as you may imagine, the kids (high-schools seniors, but still "kids" like the rest of us) love the PST! Lots of ooohs and ahhs!

This will be my first post here on CN. A fellow whose pictures(when he posts) and 'scopes always impress me enormously is Harald Paleske. It's a surprise to me that nobody else has brought him to attention. His site is:
http://www.unigraph.de/
It's in German. The pictures tell their own tale, but if you ache for a translation,Google 'languages' or somesuch will cough up an approximation.

Question about solar viewing, right now I use a 10 inch reflector Dob. I have made an off axis 5 inch hole with the baader film. I can view the sun just fine, in the white yellow color. What I would like to know is, how do I see the fine detail in the red, orange color? Could I use a H-alfa filter at the eyepiece, with the baader film on the end of the scope to get more detail? Please help.. Thank's, Don.
