Well, I just purchased a PST used from the original owner. I'm pretty sure after checking the objective closely that I have a "sick" one. I have the original warranty form. Ship date was Aug/05...serial# 98985. Looks like it was blue. What is my next step from here?, I used it once already and it worked quite well, saw a couple of nice proms. Should I be sending it back for repair?

Just recently got my PST back from Meade after finally showing rust problems. They were quick, about 2 months. Also came back with the new bluish looking objective. First thing I have ever sent back for warranty (at 58/60 months into it) so I was surprised how smooth the experience was overall.
Serial #: 94064; Shipped Jun 2004.

Just received my fixed PST (99470) back from Meade (after 11 weeks). I am the second owner of mine and Meade honored the original warranty since I received the paperwork when I bought from the first owner. I don't have that warranty in front of me now, but I am pretty sure its for 60 months. Therefore you don't have much time before its too late (for the free service). Call 1-800-626-3233 and go from there.

The 'Add a PST' at http://elektronkind.org/pst/ is down (Undefined index: in /local/vweb/elektronkind.org/htdocs/pst/index.php on line 212) so I'll add PST #95540 here; it suffers from rust I've mailed Meade Europe in Germany ... I hope it'll get repaired.

SN 98097 - Had small amount of "rust." I recognized it thanks to this forum. 5-year warranty was "up" in June 2010, so wanted to get it repaired soon.
Meade repair experience: About 40 days, from mailing to receiving it back from Meade. Blue objective lens now. Waiting for a clear day to try the 'scope out.

Serial number 101291. Gold objective PST that I picked up about three weeks ago from a local vendor. Definitely not sick. It's new old stock as the warranty card dates back to 2006 and vendor indicated that he's had it in the store for "a couple of years". Called Meade and they will honor the full 5 year waranty from Coronado.

Question: is the serial number indicative of the actual number of PSTs that have been produced?

It was repaired under warranty. This PST is in excellent condition now and the view has really improved a lot. Thanks Meade Europe ! Well done
