Refracting Coronagraph for Solar Coronal Studies
      #3373249 - 10/05/09 06:49 PM

I was watching the videos made up from the talks at the recent Stellafane convention and found one that may be of interest to this forum.

A Large Refracting Coronagraph for Solar Coronal Studies

A link to a movie of a solar prom in brightness, magnetic field, and doppler taken with COMP is here:
Coronal Multi-channel Polarimeter (CoMP)

And lastly, the link to the proposed COSMO - COronal Solar Magnetism Observatory with lots of good solar info:

This is very interesting - I've always been attracted by the "simplicity" of the coronagraph but was under the impression that they only functioned in exceptionally clean air (well sited high altitude observatories).
