I was watching the videos made up from the talks at the recent Stellafane convention and found one that may be of interest to this forum.
A Large Refracting Coronagraph for Solar Coronal Studies http://stellafane.org/convention/2009/videos/Tomczyk-TT-big.wmv
A link to a movie of a solar prom in brightness, magnetic field, and doppler taken with COMP is here: Coronal Multi-channel Polarimeter (CoMP) http://www.cosmo.ucar.edu/images/cosmo/all.mov
And lastly, the link to the proposed COSMO - COronal Solar Magnetism Observatory with lots of good solar info: http://www.cosmo.ucar.edu/

This is very interesting - I've always been attracted by the "simplicity" of the coronagraph but was under the impression that they only functioned in exceptionally clean air (well sited high altitude observatories).
