Solar Activity 16 Oct new

The sun is actually shining here!!! Disc is blank in white light, but in calcium K there is a plage near the meridian in the southern hemisphere.

2009 Oct 16, 1054 UT. PST CaK @ f/20.

In Ha a nice filament can be seen to be associated with the "active area":

2009 Oct 16, 1106 UT. Solarscope 60 @ f/32.

There are lots of small prominences but only one which is of any particular interest, a fine "banner" prominence on the east limb:

2009 Oct 16, 1106 UT. Solarscope 60 @ f/32.

Transparency good, seeing poor to bad with considerable rapid boiling.
