I guess I should have posted in this forum as I got no response in the Mounts forum. I am wondering about the feasibility of using a Meade DS 2090 mount for my Lunt 60 scope. They are available at Costco for cheap right now and I am tempted but before I drop $200 on it I would be interested in having some feedback. Would it be stable enough for imaging besides visual?

Doesn't seem like it has been used by anyone yet. I guess I will buy it today, test it out, and do a review.

I just purchased a Coronado DSM for use with my PST. Its the Generation II DS-2000 series mount with the AutoStar controller. I used it for the first time today. It worked great. I don't know anything about the DS2090 mount but if is anything like the Coronado DSM it should be fine.
Good luck, Mike

I guess I'm a looker, cause I'm looking in the ground, I'm looking in the night sky and I'm looking at the sun.

Well I bought the mount yesterday and, of course, it was raining. It took about 5 minutes to assemble. The Lunt 60 tube mounted easily in the ring with just a piece of cardboard as a spacer. This is a fat tube as this ring fits the Meade 90 refractor that comes with the mount! As a bonus it came with 5 MA eyepieces which I tried out in the Lunt. They were more than adequate although they were not parfocal. Once I set it up and initialized it, it tracked the sun very well. With the short tube of the Lunt the mount was quite stable. I think this will work very well for observing and imaging the sun as my permanent set up loses the sun about noon thru the late fall and winter. I didn't try the goto or the scope that came with the mount yet as it is cloudy yet again tonite but these things are a bonus - I recommend this combo. I have included a pic of the scope on the mount and a quick afocal snap of the sun. Nice surface activity and spot group today with a few smaller proms.
