Unfortunately the conditions were pretty dire with a thick haze layer and the Sun within the branches of a tree! However, I'm glad to have got a last look. A spectacular bit of localised prominence action going on here, the prom being very bright too.

Outstanding! I had hoped that there would be some prominence activity associated with the spot. Way to go; Pete!

Nice shot, Pete--it gives a sense of motion and turmoil.

You sure have a way with prom-disk shots Pete! Yours must be the most beautifully done mix I've ever seen! the connection between disk and proms are almost seamless: is is a single shot or a combination of two different exposures? I should have started attending this forum a long time ago: so much to learn from you guys!
Thanks Luca
PS here is so foggy today that it is hard to even locate the sun's position in the sky: major bummer not to be able to greet the 1029 after it has given us so much pleasure!

Thanks everyone. As ever all comments are very much appreciated.
Luca, the image was captured using a single exposure, although I have, in this instance, treated the proms differently to the surface. The weather has been awful here today and I was surprised to have got anything to be honest. I'm just processing up the remainder of my captures but each has relatively few frames just before thick cloud interrupted the view. The weather over the next couple of days looks even worse

By the way, the 'seam' line you can see between the chromospheric layer and the surface chromosphere is real and records like that.

Fantastic images there Pete! It is sad to see this active region go but at least it made an interesting departure to watch today!

Thanks chaps High cloud prevented much of a look yesterday although it did thin enough for me to catch the spikey bits around midday (UT). Horrible, rainy conditions today
