I have just purchased a FS 102 which I will set up for white light viewing. So I am over the sun!!! I also received gratis a mint absolutely unused solar glass filter for the FS102.I have just removed the factory sealed bubble wrap wallet and inside on soft green tissue paper the solar filter with no ID markings on it save for a blue 1/8th inch ...3mm line that runs around the outside return edge / the fitting edge. The little black pads show no sign of use.
There is a blue postcard that describes the the 3 classes of filter from the co. JMB.,Inc of Trenton, Michigan. Class A and B are visual use only, class C filters are for photographic use only! A and C class filters have long life guarantees. B class filters are good for 8 years with proper care ONLY. It is possible that this is already 8 years old! I am hoping that some well learned solar viewers will know this filter and be able to identify the class and how I should use it. Hoping against hope John

Jim wow!Thank you for your early reply. And the company is still going strong I post the co. valediction for completion of the query...
Class "A"
Color band-blue - Class "A" filters are made with the same premium quality polished glass and multi coating as class "B". An additional steel alloy added to the coating process make our Class "A" filters our biggest seller. Excellent for visual and photographic use. Light transmission is 1/1000th of 1%. Neutral density - 5. We are so confident in this filter that J.M.B. offers a lifetime warranty on this particular filter. It should be stated that this is a "No Excuse" will be turned down warranty.
