Deja vu! new
      #3425750 - 11/02/09 03:50 PM Attachment (24 downloads)

Hi guys,
sorry but when it rains here I get nostalgic and process old sequences
I have added this new image to my website: it is a similar shot taken roughly an hour later from the one I first posted here. The view is a bit different and there are already some noticeable changes in the structure of the filaments connecting the poles. I'm trying to build an animation from the different shots, but I've never done it so it is taking me some time. This is supposed to be one of the elements of the animation. I also include a green version of the image

Ciao
Luca

That's impressive. Was it taken with the 0.3A Solar Spectrum and the TEC180?

Cheers,

Keith

Hi Keith,

yes, it was taken with the SS and the TEC: 180mm ERF and 5040mm fl. It is a stack of 47/300 frames.
Thanks for your comment Keith.

Hi Luca,

You can really see the benefit of the large aperture and the narrow bandwidth in this image. Do you have many days where the seeing will not support the full 180 mm?

Thanks,

Keith

Hi Keith,

I would say that 1 out 10 days WILL support the full aperture. Most of my imaging is done at 140mm and 5000mm fl. Sometimes 110 and only 2500mm on very bad days

Luca,
I'm really excited to see the movie when you're finished with it!! Seeing the activity in motion always gives me a better sense of what was really going on. How long did you have good seeing on that day?

Hello Evokal,

I'm still evaluating if it would be better to use the sequences of the 26th or the ones from the 28th. The latter were captured in slightly worse seeing, but the series semms to be more complete and hence better suited for a movie.

I believe that it should be ready in a few days: It is my first attempt at this so I'm not very fast at it!

Ciao

Luca, your work continues to be overwhelming. An amazing amount of fine structure easily visible. Way cool!

Hi Luca -

I think it would be hard to get enough vu's of such wonderful imagery. I enjoy seeing the multiple color variations. The sensitivity of our eyes to subtle tonal variations changes with color... red is probably the worst and yellow/green we might expect to be the best. Sometimes our emotional response to colors just gets in the way. I admit to having a little trouble with a green sun, but blue suns are just fine... go figure!

best wishes,
Alan
