He started off as an amateur and is a currently working full-time on a NASA grant to provide asteroid and NEO observations. He built his own 24" and 32" instruments, and he produced more NEO follow-up observations than anyone else last year. Any time we spend making follow up obs takes us away from surveying "virgin" sky so follow up obs made by others aids in finding potential impactors.
