Messier Marathon Excel Sheet
      #1204408 - 10/18/06 01:05 PM Attachment (262 downloads)

Here is a little offering for anyone who wants it. Its a spreadsheet/check list for Messier marathons. If you change the year in the sheet, the sheet will give you possible dates that year to have a marathon. Enjoy or download and delete....your choice.

Randy

Nice bit of spreadsheetsmanship.
Is that a word?

Hey, wow, thanks! That's awesome, I'd been thinking of trying to find all the Messier object, so this will come in very handy!

I made one that gave planetary positions (Equatorial and Alt-Az), visual magnitudes, % full, whether or not they were currently visable, and other bells and whistles....but alas, my hard drive ate it.

One thing that might be worth adding would be RA & Dec coordinate columns.
Easy enough for anyone to find though.

If you're anything like me with spreadsheets, they're never really finished.

Dave,

I thought about that but it turned out that it wouldn't all fit nicely on the paper, but you are right about them never being really finished. I think the revision number on this one is 5.5.

C'mon David... everyone knows the correct terminology is worksheetmanship. :sheesh:

By the way, Randy, that is Excel-lent. Just when I thought I'd seen every permutation of a MM worksheet, you present something new. Thanks.

Amen to that comment. I make some updates every day to my Buyer's guides, and finally get around to posting a new version every few months.
I've got older spreadsheets I keep for data (especially my observing log), and I seem to add a column or change a color or font on that thing every few days.
It sounds like you use spreadsheets a lot, too.
