We are proud to announce our new product (Now Shipping),
20" Counterweight Shaft for CGEM, CG-5, LXD-75, LXD-55, EQ-3, GP, and GP-DX, Mounts
This finely ground & polished stainless steel counterweight shaft is intended to solve what can be a serious short coming of the CGEM mount, the inability to balance heavy instrument loads due to the very short factory supplied counterweight shaft. Using our 20" long counterweight shaft will allow you to balance loads that weren't previously possible to balance, and can allow you to use less counterweight than before.
This shaft is 20mm diameter with a 20" length overall, of which 2" is threaded for M16 x 2. This shaft is compatible with any mount that requires a 20mm diameter shaft with a M16 x 2 thread on the end, including but not limited to the CGEM, CG-5, LXD-75, LXD-55, EQ-3, GP, and GP-DX, Mounts. Just curious, but do you offer an extension shaft for the Atlas mount? Seems like a good way to regain some payload by reducing the amount of counterweight necessary.

Sorry I took so long to respond. The answer is yes I have used the new CW Shaft and I've already been able to remove one 11 pound counterweight and I'm still experimenting. I truly am impressed with options this allows me when loading 30+ pounds of equipment on my CGEM (plus it looks cool). A very worthwhile purchase!

If a CGEM user is loading about 32 pounds of gear on their mount...I consider your beautifully crafted CW shaft a necessity...NOT...an option. Thank you for making this great product available. I love it.
