I originally posted this to the Sketching Forum as it qualified as live from the eyepiece in the "Inset Detail" yet the whole moon image is more an impressionisitc artwork. So I decided to post it here too for those who miss the "Sketching Forum". This is on a 20" X 24" sheet of blue indigo Canson Mi Tientes pastel paper to reference the size-The whole lunar disc is 10 1/2 inches in diameter as is he equal length of the lunar terminator edge length. Various antique pastel hards chalks and a new Faber Castell hard white chalk pencil were used. Entire sketch was done in 2 hours.
Thanks for your compliments. Actually I submitted this one to the monthly sketching contest. It received the most votes so far, which shocked me. I did not expect the reception there. Yet alone less here in the art forum.
I have not been able to sketch nearly at all with a condition I have for the past 3 weeks.
