h1123's location in M34 new
      #3421867 - 10/31/09 01:13 PM

I've found two conflicting directions to the location of h1123 in M34's core. Sue French in Celestial Sampler..."the double star hll23...marks the northwest edge of the cluster's core". Robert Garfinkel in Star Hopping..."...the brightest stars,...are in the center of the cluster and form a box-shaped asterism. On the southeastern corner of the box you can find double star h1123". Is h1123 northwest or southeast M34 core's edge. Can anyone clear this up for me. Thanks

According to my most used astro software programs (Sky Tools, Sky Chart & Guide) Sue is right - northwest edge of M34's core.

Thanks PJ. I feel good about that because my copy of Celestial Sampler was signed by Sue at NEAF two years ago.
I enjoy knowing as much as I can about the objects I'm observing, the more details the better. Thanks again.
