Those are 'Video Rocker' chairs that were purchased at a discount store. I just bought two more of them for $24.00 each. Regular price was $40.00. They work well and also keep your back warm while in use. I have considered making my own 'chair' but for that price I am not very motivated! Plus this type of chair works well.

Don,

Outstanding idea and thank you for sharing. Can you share with us which discount store you purchased them at.

Also, do you think this set up could handel 14lbs of large binoculars?

Thanks

Beachchairbill

I bought a couple video rockers for overflow seating a few years ago at Target. It doesn't look like they carry them anymore from looking at their website but Walmart has them for $30:

This is great! I'm trying to come up with ideas for a binocular chair. I have one of these rockers... I might just make this...
When are those plans coming??

Beachchairbill,

Hi, I purchased my chairs at Pamida discount stores (mainly in the midwest I believe). I think Walmart carries the same one for the same price- around $30.00. GameChairs.com carries what appears to be the same one - more money! I have not tried the models that fold up - less stable?? - maybe not!

There are a few different models, some even have built in sound systems.

My local super target has 3 models ranging in price from $30-$160. I really like the fold able one for $60... but I wonder what the effects of the folding back would be?

You're right. My 4yo son has one and the back has velcro and folds down. The only drawback of these chairs is that it is right on the ground. That doesn't leave much room for your knees to bend comfortably. Other than that, they seem great for binos.

I bought the video racker from Wallmart this spring for $30. Almost all Wallmarts have then in the stores.I tried to mount the binos to it. It didn't work all that well. The vibration from my own heart beat kills the viewing.

Chris,

Perhaps you need one with just a little MORE cushioning.

More cushioning for the chair or his heart?

I'm hoping that more cushioning in the 'chair' might help to dampen the pulsations from the body/heart.
