Craig, here is a link to the sketching thread in the Lunie Bin. Please feel free to move it to a better place if you need to. But it was so valuable, I thought it would be good to have a link available.

Here's a little tip I learned by accident.
We all know that sketching pencils are made to smudge and blend, and we have to be careful when brushing away little pieces of eraser so we don't accidentally smudge the pencil. I'm not sure how many others do this, but I use either a fan-shaped or pointed art brush to flick away the eraser pieces [but that's not the tip].
In removing a tiny speck of eraser the other night, I used the pointed brush and found it to be quite a gentle blender. Much softer of an effect than a blending stump, and it erases better because it's not ground into the paper's pores.

Hey, so I guess I've been out of the loop for a while eh. --Curse these viruses!-- :: shakes fist ::
Anyway, I haven't been totally unproductive. For whatever it's worth, I finally finished a sketching tutorial that goes over the steps I tend to use for DSOs: Linkage
For you dialup users, it's divided into 3 pages, with about 200K worth of images per page :-O I hope that isn't too painful.

Something this useful is worth the wait on dial-up, Jeremy! I've no doubt your fellow sketchers here will be refering newbies to this forum to your website many times.
By the way, I was just about to add your name to the "Whatever Happened To..." thread in OT. Glad to see you're still in business. And I do hope you're talking about computer viruses...

Thanks for the comments you guys. I had weeks of this cold-then-flu-then-bronchitis thing that wouldn't end. I haven't been out under the stars for going on 2 months--and the clouds won't let up now. Serious bumming that has led to speechless lurking. I'm adding links to other astro-sketching tutorials on the last page of mine. In fact, I think I've got a couple links to some other good tutorials out there that I could add here. I need to look them up.

Glad to hear you're feeling better, Jeremy. Your step-by-step is extremely helpful, especially the way you explained how to determine the initial star placement. That's where I always mess up big-time.
Sorry about my delayed reply [no, it didn't take a week for the download ]. This thread somehow slipped under the radar on May 2nd and didn't re-surface as 'unread' till Faith replied yesterday. Thanks Faith!
