CGEM Pelican Storm IM2700 Case new
      #3735404 - 04/09/10 06:28 PM

I have a CGEM mount and found a nice case for it. I purchased a Pelican Storm IM2700 same size as Pelican 1600 except 1/2 inch larger in all dimensions. I have been shopping pretty hard for a Pelican 1600 after seeing some examples with the CGEM in this forum. I could find a good deal but not a great deal on a case. Then I found the Pelican Storm IM2700 with foam brand new on Ebay for an outstanding price which included shipping. There are four left if anyone is interested...

...and once you get it setup...all cozy in its new home, post a picture. I have seen at least two or three pics of the 1600 with a CGEM inside...including my own. I would love to see yours in your the IM2700.

That's a nice case. I use the iM2720 for my Mach1GTO. It's lighter than the corresponding Pelican. I bought some closed cell foam from foambymail and made the inserts. Only problem I have is that the foam won't stick to the inside of the lid with the spray adhesive. I solved that with industrial strength velcro.

.... updated. Looks like they're all gone now....

Just received my i2700 case. As advertised, new case with 3 pluck and pull foam inserts. Thanks again for the link Mac. Don't think you'll find a better deal for a new 2700 with foam included. Doesn't have wheels but hey, I can tote it.
Vendor still shows the listing and may have more if others are interested.

Sure .... NNNNOOOOOoooooowwwwwww there's some available. I looked & looked for them and/or something as an alternative to the Pelican 1600

As last week ran out and I was headed to the desert with my stuff, I went to OPT Thursday & picked up a Pelican 1600. 160.00 with no sales tax. so I guess it's OK. Sure could use that extra half inch you say yours has, over the P1600 though.

I got my mount in there, but no room for the counterweight bar.

Paul, based on the interior dimensions posted for both the 1600 and 2700, it is a bit (.5") smaller in each interior direction... but still a nice transport case for your mount. I can't imagine transporting my CGEM around this year to the dark sites without a good protective case... just too darn heavy ...

When I had my CGEM, I had the Pelican 1610 w/ wheels, it worked great. Everything fit and it was easy to move that beast around.

I have been out of town all week and when I got home a few minutes ago my IM2700 was setting on the porch so I will be busy tomorrow getting the foam cut out. I bought some very dense black foam from the foam factory online. It is excellent for this case/mount. Also if I ever sell it I would have all the original foam making it worth a few more bucks. I plan on taking my time cutting it out because you can always wack some more off but it is really difficult to wack some more on :-) If anyone has there IM2700 cut out please post a picture. I think I am going to appreciate the slightly larger size than the 1600 which is a mighty fine case.

Great news Ron. That should keep you busy for a while.

Measure twice...cut once. Or in my case...I Cut it 3 times and it's still too short!

I have finished cutting the foam and now have a great case for the mount. The ADM saddle knobs are pretty long so I simply removed them and placed them above the saddle which helps a lot with lid closure without anything sticking up too high. I am pleased with the way it came out and nothing is sticking up high enough to cause any issues with closing the lid.

Nicely done Ron. Looks great. Sure beats Tupperware and some old pillows!
