You have produced some great images of the Moon over the past few days Guys. Many thanks.
They remind me of what I was seeing through the eyepiece during my five days of observing the Moon.
It was good to note the shadows receeding across the crater floors when observing for an hour or more.
Unfortunatly, the weather has now closed in for a few days.

Well, set up last night at about 8 pm. Cooled (actually warmed up) for an hour, went out to observe about 9:15- and the freakin' skies were covered with clouds.
Wow. I know I was on call, and may have been a bit confused from lack of sleep, but how in the hell did I wind up in the UK?

We finally got some rain last night and this morning the air is thick with moisture.  And why would I be clapping because this is the first true sign of summer which means our daily rains are back.
We have dozens of brush fires going on and these afternoon thunderstorms will surely help to squelch them.
PS the Moon has had an orange glow the last two nights because of the smoke from those fires. Plus our seeing conditions really stink right now.

There's is a Lunar Eclispe today John that you may wish to look out for.
It will be coming out of total from my latitude by the time it rises but you may be luckier.

The new equipment curse strikes once more, having bought a USB guider interface that will hopefully give me longer exposure times, theres been nothing but cloud and rain since, the rest of this week here in the Midlands looks set to be either cloudy or wet, which i might add is most frustrating

Hi Peter,
North America will not see this, but these areas will:
The entire event will be seen from the eastern half of Africa, the Middle East, central Asia and western Australia. Observers throughout Europe will miss the early stages of the eclipse because they occur before moonrise. Fortunately, totality will be seen throughout the continent except for northern Scotland and northern Scandinavia. Eastern Asia, eastern Australia, and New Zealand will miss the last stages of eclipse because they occur after moonset. Again, the total phase will be seen from most of these regions. Even observers in eastern Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina will witness totality. However, none of the eclipse will be visible from North America. At mid-eclipse, the Moon is near the zenith for observers from Reunion and Mauritius.

LOL, well Peter, rather than put me in a photo frame, you might want to blow it up to poster size, blue tack it to the wall and throw darts at it, WHY, because i bought a new Skywatcher DS-PRO-80ED refractor as well as my main imaging scope, which, might well add to the continued weather problem.

Hi Peter,
i have not used my 8" reflector for quite some time now, mostly i have been using my 6" f/8 refractor for lunar and planetary, while for DSO work my short tube ST80mm refractor, having now got my new 80ED f/7.5 refractor,the plan is to use the 80ED as my main imaging scope while using the older ST80 achro as my guide scope, this in conjuntion with the new Hi-Tec-Astro guide interface i purchased to use with PHD software for guiding!
I did post a quick test image of M27, on the showcase thread that i captured using the new 80ED, this was just a quick test shot of 6X60 seconds.
I had problems that night with my alignment, so am currently waiting for a clear night to fix that problem and to try out this guiding lark!
Just waiting for some clear skys now.
Here`s a shot of the 80ED and Piggybacked ST80!

I've found an abstract cure for the weather problems.
Send all your gear back for repairs or upgrades!
Just know when you do, your area will be flooded with clear skies and perfect seeing conditions.
I'm just too lazy tonight to drag the 1100 out. The iOptron mount is off for the turbo mods at Trapezium.

I went out last night around 10:30pm and the skies were clear(note: first night with smoke free skies in over a week). I recently bought a used UO 12.5mm Ortho and wanted to compare it against the Nagler 13T6.
Before I even started to set-up, I got the ThermaCell out and fired it up. After setting up the scope, I used the Solar System Alignment on Saturn since I was only going to do a quick comparison between the two EP's. I do love using the GLP for alignments 
I have to say that it was much warmer and humid outside than inside, so the scope really didn't have much of a chance to equalize, but at the same time, the views through the EP were not bad at all.
I really could not see a difference between the two EP's when viewing Saturn. Maybe at 9mm there will be, but not at 13mm/12.5mm. The star field, Saturn's moons and Saturn itself looked the same through both EP's. Oh yeah, the Nagler had a larger FOV, but that's the only difference that my eyes saw.
After 45 minutes of viewing,I broke everything down and put it away. After carrying in the last load, I was really starting to sweat so I decided to jump in the pool to cool off. I laid my feet on top of one of the pool steps and floated on my back while staring at the night sky. I could see almost all of the stars in the Little Dipper. Very cool!
I floated for about 1/2 hour and saw one meteorite flash across the northern sky. What really stood out during this time was the amount of LP that was visible. It was like every neighbor in a 360 degree radius had their front porch light on. The white glow was all around me and I can not remember seeing so much LP before. Then almost in concert, one-by-one they started going off. Over a 10 minutes period I'd say 60% of the lights were turned off which was pretty cool to witness.
All-in-all it was a fun time out under the stars!!!
EDIT: forgot to mention that the pool water temp is 86F/30C.

Newbie question: I was reading your post and was wondering why you don't use your 6" refractor for DSO imaging? And why do you use a smaller refractor for DSO?
