Collimation Celestron C90 (black rubberized)
      #5374418 - 08/18/12 10:08 AM

I just purchase a mid-90's Celestron C90. This is the black rubber coated with the 1.25 visual back. I had it out for the first time and notice that it was out of collimation. I spent a couple of hours last night web-searching for ideas on how to do this. Nobody had any great ideas, short of tearing the whole scope apart and even those seemed problematic. And their are no external adjustment screws.

The consensus seems to be that these scopes are glued together and either well collimated or not and there is really nothing to do about this. But I am optimistic.

the views from the scope are not bad. But I would like to have it collimated. Anyone have any ideas on how to do this. They would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Eric

They were pre collimated at the factory, there is no way to align the optics, spinning the meniscus does no good as it is a sphere. sorry, they are better used as a spotter.
or telephoto lens at prime focus, sorry

Try cleaning and regreasing the helical focusing thread. If the menicus tube sags collimation will be off.
