Oct 09 Interm. DSO Challenge Poll

We are very pleased and proud to present the October 2009 entries in the Intermediate DSO Challenge. The poll will close on November 8th at Midnight EDT. The winner will be announced at our earliest opportunity after the poll has closed.

Imaged through my C11 at f/5
Using my Original Orion SSDSI and MaxIm DL
Auto guided through my ED80 at f/15 to better match the SCT’s magnification
Using Meade’s DSI and PHD
Best 15 of 30 subs at 60s ea
Debayered and stacked in Nebulosity
Then a bit of Photoshop





Doubleglaze
Shot with a Pentax 75SDHF at 500mm focal length on a Vixen SXD mount, guided with Borg 50 and PhD.

15X exposures at 120sec each for 30 minutes total exposure time. 400ISO using an unmodified Canon 40D. 30X flats and 50X darks.

Captured, processed and cropped in Nebulosity with GIMP for resizing to post. I also cropped down to the cluster from a larger FOV, original size at the link in my signature to see the whole neighborhood.

EDIT: Resized to shrink file, flirted with the 100K limit.

Camera: Hutech modified Canon 40D with clip-in IDAS light pollution suppression filter

Stacked with Deep Sky Stacker and processed with Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo X2
