Lower ISO setting, shorter duration exposures. then stack.
the trap stars are very energetic so they will burn very quickly. Just sample a few at say ISO800 and 1 minute. then sample some at ISO 400 and 3 minutes. Your scope is what will dictate what works for you. Mine is an 8" SCT f/10 + 6.3 reducer. How are you focusing? Focus will give you fits!!
Good Luck

The way to do it is to have long exposures combined with short...The trap would probably be non burnt by 20/30 seconds ISO 800

SO take darks and lighs of say 4- 8 minutes align combine and stack and stretch those and then do the same with the lights and darks for the shorter exposure Then combine in Photoshop using a Reveal All Mask instruction by Jerry http://www.astropix.com/HTML/J_DIGIT/COMP2.HTM
