Flip mirror questions
      #3435641 - 11/07/09 11:51 PM

Fellow astrophiles,

I have the Orion flip mirror unit but have not been able to puzzle out how exactly to use it. I can see where an eyepiece could go in the top for centering the image, but the opening where a camera would go seems an odd size to me--neither SLR nor CCD sized. I must be missing something. Can any flip mirror user advise?

thanks,

Richard

The rear of the unit has male t-threads for a standard camera t-mount if using a DSLR. For a CCD camera just remove the nose piece and it should thread on to the flip mirror.

I was under the impression that these units were designed for use with Orion's cameras (or CCDs) - not DSLRs. Is that correct?

Great pics and explanation! I was trying to hook up my Neximage or SPC9000 but there is no set screw...how do you secure the nosepiece of the CCD?

Thanks,

Richard

They usually thread directly onto the T-threads instead of using the 1.25" nosepiece.

For any webcam or any other camera with a 1.25" nose piece you could have a look at Scopestuff ... they have a T to 1.25" adapter that would work.
