I have received my Feather Touch, and i'm now looking to Motorize it for AP usage.
I see that JMI has a nice option that allows manual use without removing the motor.
Option 1
This connects it to the PC.
Moto PC control
The other option is from Feather Touch, but you seem to lose manual use of the FT. This has a stepper with encoder feedback.
Option 2
Is this system needed or would the JMI solution be good enough for auto focusing. I'm very confused about the various software used, and compatible equipment.
Is there a better option for the FT? I know a bunch of you experts are using the FT for AP.

Another poisoned thread! Oh well.
I have to ask this. I get the impression that equipment information on this forum is kinda hush hush if you know what I mean. A'm I imagining this? I see few reponses to these kinda questions versus ther other forums on cloudy nights.

We sell our Microtouch for feathertouch focusers. Our unit provides temperature compensation and many other features. I use it for all of my astrophotography on my C8 & C14. I use the Microtouch at Star Parties so that people keep their hands off my scope. It allows for manual adjustment without injecting any shake into the scope.

I'm no expert, but I do use a FT focuser for AP. Someday, I'll probably go motorized, but until then I just use a paper scale with numbers and tick marks wrapped around the fine focusing knob. When focusing, I note the scale position, and take test shots. The scale readings are useful in adjusting the focuser to get the point of best focus. The best thing about this method is -- no wires.
For a question like this, you might get more responses in the "equipment" section.
