We were watching a bright aurora tonight. It was fading and drifting to the west from our site in western New York as we just came in.

It was beautiful here in Janesville too! I was looking at Jupiter when I looked up at Cassiopeia and saw an orangeish cloud. I thought it was a cloud reflecting light pollution until I turned around. Wow!

Great shot. I was more focused on making sure my son who was with me, and my wife and daughter on the way back from the stable saw them that I didn't have time to get my tripod out Hopefully we see more over the next few months.
Definitely the best I've seen since I moved here from north western Ontario...

The show was amazing here in N. Michigan. I was able to capture pictures until my battery ran out. It looked like what I imagine a domed stadium would be if the ceiling was lined with running Christmas tree lights. I posted a pic here. http://www.cloudynights.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/4878694/page/0/view/collapsed/sb/5/o/all/fpart/1#Post4878724

There are some references to auroras being seen as far south as Texas and Georgia. Here is a link to an article about last nights aurora.

I was attending the Mid-Atlantic Star Party in Robbins, NC last night and it was visible in the northern sky around 8:45 pm for about 20 minutes then faded.

Wow, just read all the news and looked at some amazing pictures shot last night from many different states from the links on the spaceweather.com site.
Nice that your group was able to see them here in NC. You guys sure were blessed with some great weather this week for your star party!
