Backlog... M56 from 24 May 08
      #2555022 - 08/01/08 05:24 PM Attachment (23 downloads)

After M5 set behind a tree, I looked around for a good white light target for the 8" SCT, and chose M56 in Lyra (near Cygnus, near the bottom star in the summer cross). This has a nice star-rich region around it considering it's pretty much in the direction of the milky way, but my image suffers from a slight misfocusing. Of course, like most star-rich images, I have to take a beating to post it at 800px... JPEG quality set to 50

Very nice image, especially the way the stars in the glob blend into the background starfield.
