Congratulations, Scully - you have a great NGC 772 image. Your colors are beautiful and you picked up some great nebulosity and faint fuzzies. Take a big bow!

Wow !

Thanks everybody !
I love it when something turns out better than you think it will.
As I was setting up to shoot this object the weather predictions and cloud cover maps were not promising, but it was super clear over my area so I went ahead anyway.
I'm glad I didnt chicken out and close up teh scope shed.

Have we done the Horse Head on a DSLR challenge before ?
I would love to see what everyone can do with that !

Hi Scully -

I looked through the DSLR Challenge "Hall of Fame" (its under the sticky thread Best Threads in DSLR & Digital Camera AstroImaging), and the last time we did the Horsehead was 5 years ago in December 2007.

While we're on the subject of DSLR Challenges - I don't think Dan ever picked a December target. I looked through the Oct12 DSLR Challenge winner thread, and I didn't see any target listed (are we taking the holidays off?). :-)

5 years eh ?
Time to see what the new low noise and no amp glow cams can do on it.
Plus its possible to get good results with even a non-modified cam.
Lets do the Horse head !
