I could have went outside, but it was -14C and I didn't want to freeze my buns off! So I observed through my back room window and saw M-41, M-42, M-46, M-47 and NGC-2438 & for the first time I saw NGC-2440 in Puppis.
I star hopped with my 34mm ES and then looked at it with my 10mm and 7mm Pentax XW's using my 2" Orion Ultrablock filter. I wish I had of cranked up the power to see some sort of a shape, but images through the window are always less than perfect, so I stuck with 160x with the 7mm XW.
Hopefully I can get to a darker site right outside to see this planetary nebula again at a higher power as well.
Cheers,

Viewed at high power in good seeing, NGC 2440 looks like an alien face staring right back at you.

There are some cool looking star patterns all around this object too.

Very nice sketch of NGC 2440 with your 10". It is an object with good contrast, it supports well high magnifications. I have made a sketch with my 15 "very similar to yours but with two lateral reinforcing in the inner region at 462x.

I have made out the peanut shaped, brighter inner region, with the peculiar looking and fainter outer shell around it. It definitely is not a simple disk, it seems to be a bi-polar nebula much like M-76. I've seen it's structure at 227X with the 15-inch in the middle of western Mobile Al.

The last time I saw it was in 2008 with my home-built 16-inch f/6.4 at 96X. I saw a bright blue ball, slightly distorted. I saw pretty much the same thing in 2005 at 70X. Magnification was probably too low. I know it was a pretty sight though. I need to revisit it at higher magnifications and under better observing conditions so I can draw out more detail.

Nice sketch Laurent! And a big thanks for the replies after that! I'm going to try more power on it when the skies get better here!
