Making a ES 127mm f7.5 Triplet binoviewer friendly
      #6264044 - 12/20/13 04:15 PM

Does anyone on this forum have experience in modifying this refractor for use with binoviewers? Initially I will be using Burgess 24 binos.

Thanks,

~jerry

I am using a new-style ES ED127 with William Optics binos. I didn't mod the scope in any way, but I did have to remove the focuser extension and use the 1.6x nosepiece barlow.

With 25mm, 15mm, and 9mm eyepiece pairs, the setup yields mags of 61x, 101x, and 169x respectively, which covers the bases pretty well. I have to switch back to mono for very low powers / widefield, but I'm okay with that. (Because the focuser extension is removed, I keep my 2" low-power eyepiece in a 50mm extension tube so it will easily come to focus when I swap it for the binos.)
