Generally speaking, many of these older Japanese binoculars are considered to be very good optically. Of course, this is a broad statement since there were dozens, if not hundreds, of brand names marketed during that era. Not all can be expected to be good or great. I read the mailing-list archive Kenny is referring to, and the author does hold the Belfont 7x35 in very high regard, so that is a good sign. Clear dark skies...
