'Color transmission' also impacts 'brightness', as it's essentially the transmitted spectrum. One would think that transmitting the full visual spectrum so that an image would be color neutral is desirable, but some makes transmitt a spectrum with a blue peak. I'll guess that makers transmitt as much light as possible and if it's not neutral they turn a design problem into a 'feature' and advertise it, like Zeiss does with their binoculars that have peaks in the blue part of the spectrum. It works as the subjective impression is that their binoculars get comments about being bright even when the measured light transmission is less than others.
