Monarch's used to have poor white colour balance and not so fine contrast, that one would expect from modern optics. I've compared them to Olympus EXWP I (that are actually cheaper) and Vortex Viper binos (much more expensive). Both of the later beated them. It's time for Nikon to refresh it's technology in mid priced models.
