Posted to the entire Thread: This subject has some sneaky details. First, are you viewing with the eyecups extended? Even though the view seems complete, sometimes what is revealed is a greater FOV when you retract the eyecups as if you are using glasses. This is a mistake I continually make. You would think I would learn it once, and then always take it into account. I find I still make this mistake. Remember, the supplied eyecups are often too long on so many binoculars.
Second, it seems that Gordon Rayner's point, that the center of rotation of the eyeball is not at the entrance pupil, would have implications on viewing the edge of the FOV. It might take a slight shift in holding the binoculars when you do sightings on each of the edges of the FOV.
There is more to using binoculars that one would think! Sincerely, Rob.
