I have the exact same binocs and mount. I too ran into this problem when I first got this setup about a month or so ago. I was pretty irritated at first, but quickly came up with a solution. I solved the problem by removing the circular metal plate that is attached by three screws to the L-bracket and using a smaller washer from my Nikon binocular tripod adapter. This smaller washer fits between the rubber while keeping the binocs off the L-bracket, and it mates up perfectly with the L-bracket where the circular plate used to be. A thick plastic washer from the hardware store might work just as well as long as its diameter is small enough to fit between the rubber and thick enough to mate up properly.
