OK. After reading all the responses and playing with them some more, I decided they are keepers.
As pointed out, they are excellent bins (if a bit heavy, bulky and having folding instead of telescoping eyecups), and the IS is a very useful feature dispite the slight intermittent fuzziness it introduces. So in the balance, and partially for the novelty feature of IS, I like em.
