I was originally going to try a piece of masking tape over the center mark on my 18" mirror to prevent its removal, but Phil Jackson of Photonic Cleaning recommended the plastic bottle cap trick. It worked, as can be seen on the CN mirror cleaning demo video from NEAF. He first coated the edge of the cap with solution to seal it to the mirror.
