Hey folks, while I have my moderator's hat on I'd like to bring up something that has been on my mind for the past several days. I've not really had a good idea of how to broach this until just now, so here we go...
I'm speaking specifically to the Vendors who have taken part in this conversation. I'd like to remind everyone that as a Vendor, the CN TOS adds this restriction:
"vendors/manufacturers are to refrain from commenting on their competitor’s equipment (directly or indirectly). Please restrain your comments to products you manufacture or resell'
The reason for this rule is to completely eliminate the possibility that someone could say that you as a vendor had 'bashed' another vendor's product. In reading through the thread it is clear that to me that it was not anyone's *intent* to 'bash' this new camera. Every comment has been useful to motivate conversation and excitement about this new product, and we here at CN can see that you fellows are only posting as persons with a keen interest in the hobby.
That said, I and the rest of the management at CN want to remind you not to forget that you *are* also vendors, and as such you must be held to a higher standard.
Please take a moment to read these two examples of posts from this thread. Look at them as if some other vendor was discussing one of your own products...

Quote: I just heard from a reliable source that the Orion camera is a relabeled QHY.
Quote: note how the peak of the kodak chip's red spectrum is higher up on the graph closer to HA line, and the Sony Chip's peak is a little lower, closer to the Sodium line. Where the Kodak chip is less sensitive is in the Sodium line(the minumum gap between R and G) and the Peak is closer to HA. On the Sony chip, the Peak is closer to sodium, and HA is in the area where the sensitivity is falling off again.
Both these posts contributed to the conversation in a material and ultimately positive way. This is the reason it has taken this long to work out how to address this. However, these statements *could* be construed as 'product bashing' - in fact, the first post Bryan made in this topic specifically addressed at least one of these posts above.
I know that it is difficult to be so very careful about what you're saying when you're just trying to add to the conversation, but this is exactly why the line in the CN TOS exists in the first place, and rather than just pronouncing "Thou shalt not discuss another vendors product!" I wanted to be certain that you understood why we need to remind you of this, and just how fine and sticky a point it actually is. Please take this as a long winded but very gentle reminder of this.
