Dennis's solution (yet to be tried in practice) was to drill two holes in the upright part of the tripod adapter that comes with the Paragon mount matching the holes in the bottom, then tap them with 1/4-20 threads. It's a very simple solution if you know somebody with a 1/4-20 tap.
Having done that, the adapter now serves double duty. Install as usual for normal use, or turn on its side and get the equivalent of Orion's adapter for use with binos that have a built-in tripod thread on the bottom. It remains to be seen if this actually works in practice; the bottom of the adapter may bump into something when it's turned on side.
