Just to be clear, my mount doesn't make the grinding noise you've recorded.
As for checking the mesh - there's a "peep-hole" covered by a chrome cover with a slot in it so that it can be removed with a regular screwdriver and so expose the mesh between the worm gear and motor transfer gears.
To adjust the mesh you have to remove the plate where your handbox connects so that you can have access to the motors, which are each held with two screws. You loosen these screws to allow the motors to be positioned to set the mesh.
